The manual side slide is the least expensive mechanical parking device. It is used where the columns in a garage block parking spaces. The cars are driven unto the slides and then they are pushed, by the attendants, behind the columns. Another version of this system, a bit more complicated and expensive, is the automatic slide where cars are driven unto platforms in the platforms are moved to the side with electric motors.
